I’m Karrie Andes, and I'm the Human Resources Director for Deffenbaugh Industries, Inc. & Affiliates. I'm not a full-time conference promoter - I'm a H/R Director that's tired of rising healthcare costs. It’s my job to manage our company's health plans, and by becoming a self-insured employer, we’ve been able to more effectively control our costs and beat the trends.
So why do we put on a healthcare conference?
We started this conference as a community effort in 2005. The goal is to help educate employers and plan sponsors about self-insured plans. Solutions to rising healthcare costs are not always reducing benefits or raising premiums! If you learn all you can about the components of your healthcare plan, then you can reduce your overall cost trends.

The Savvy Self-Funding Healthcare
Conference & Exposition
The Savvy Self-Funding Conference and Expo is a bit different than other healthcare expositions and conferences. It's a relaxed, comfortable environment. Our vendor expo includes both carriers AND brokers. Traditional conference settings don't include both, but I strongly feel that
employers and plan sponsors need to have access to as many resources that are available. Additionally, we offer breakout sessions...and don't be surprised to find both attendees and exhibitors attending these sessions. Afterall, we all want to learn how to make healthcare better! We’re hopeful that by becoming more “Savvy,” plan sponsors can help slow the trend of rising costs and make a difference for the hard-working people on their plans.
Please be sure to join our mailing list for upcoming events and our monthly newsletter. Our next conference is on June 1-3, 2009 and we'll definitely drop you a line when we get closer to our big conference date!
Take care! Karrie Andes, SPHR, Conference Chairperson
June 2009 Update - Our conference held here in Kansas City was awesome! We had over 250 come to share & learn ways to improve, reduce costs, and help their plan members. I couldn' t have asked for a better group that was dedicated to helping each other. Stay tuned! Warmly, Karrie Andes, SPHR
